Wizamets on the Bay

leads me to believe I do have an extremely tough beard.

I'm the total opposite and for me the Wizamets turned out to be killer blades. I have a a normal beard and sensitive skin. Feathers shred my skin apart. Voskhod works great too. I sometimes too am baffled why one particular brand blade/razor or combo works for one person and not the other but that just makes it interesting. It just goes to show again and again that the only way to know if something is going to work for you is to try it out for yourself. In comparison I use a WR1 .54. I was able to try a WR2 1.05 and that worked great too. Anything wider becomes too aggressive but then my Asylum RX rules my kingdom in the SE world while many find it too aggressive. Go figure.

What’s everyone’s opinion on wether these Wizamet Iridium Super blades (from any legitimate source verified here in this thread....Morocco or Spain) are all actually new old stock? You’d think that since the transition from WIS to PSI supposedly took place some time ago that there would be dwindling quantities left of the Wizamet Iridium Super packaging... Do you think there’s a chance that the older packaging is still being printed too and that current production blades are just being put into two different types of packaging? ...or are you of the opinion that we are buying blades with different graphics & packaging that was produced long ago and no longer currently offered and that eventually what we are all after will dry up?

Given how recently I came on the scene, I can't be sure what is or is not true.  However, I look at it differently:  I bought a 100 count stick of Wizamets for 25¢ per blade and a 250 count stick for 20¢ per blade.  As I write this, the cheapest price I have found for 100 Polsilvers is 32¢ per blade.  So if anyone is taking Polsilvers and rebranding them as Wizamets, all I can say is "Thank you, whoever you are!"  

However, I might well be concerned if someone were taking a completely different blade and rebranding it, which brings me to this ...  I did get some Polsilvers around New Years.  I haven't shaved with them since May, which dims my memory, and I haven't shaved with them enough to draw any conclusions.  But all this discussion has put the issue on my radar, so I may revisit the Polsilvers at some point.

I Think All This Conflict is Due To The Fact That The Wizomet's Performance is Highly Razor Dependent.

My Initial Glowing Review of Them was using The Timeless . 68 SB... It is a Match Made In Heaven... It's also very good with the Rockwell.

It IS NOT THAT GREAT With a FatBoy... Which to me shaves more like a Wolfman, which would explain Jimmy's less than Stellar Review of them.

I've Used Every Blade Imaginable in the Timeless including Astra, Feather, and Nacet, and I standby that The Wizomet's are The Sharpest/Smoothest Blade Bar none in THAT Razor...

I Suggest that those that are having Mediocre Results Try Them in some Different Razors...

I've had three shaves with the first Wizamet blade. I tried it in a WR1 .94, then a Karve F plate, and back to the WR1 .94 yesterday. The first two shaves did not impress me, but the third shave ... was great. 

I've been shaving my face since 1963 or so, with one thing or another. Wet shaving as we practice it since 2007. Sometimes I think I don't know anything about wet shaving !

I loaded the blade, lathered up with a Simpson M7 and MDC. As soon as I made the first 0C WTG pass I was surprised at how sharp and smooth the blade felt. The WTG was great, and then the ATG SB pass was equally good.

After the shave I counted the blades in the pack. I wanted to make sure I hadn't loaded a new blade. There were 9. So it was the third shave with that first blade ! So I don't know what to make of it. 

Normally I would have tossed this blade after the second or third shave, but I'm giving it another go later today. Turns out the Wizamets might be a superior blade for me after all.

Keep using it. 3-6 are the prime zone for me. I can go to 10 which is unheard of for my hair. Won’t be as sharp but still very very smooth.

That's interesting stuff JimmyH. What's really going on here? I mean is that the coating wearing off and making them sharper? Hmm Thanks for the feedback.

My favorite thing about the Wizzies is they seem smoother to me on a brand new blade compared to the Polsilver Super Iridiums I always used. I like that since I now don’t have to pay attention to how many uses on a blade to achieve the smoothness I want. Pop in a fresh one without thinking twice.

I had my 4th shave with the Wizamet I started with. I skipped shaving yesterday so was doing a two day growth of beard. Used a WR1 DC .74 gap for a change. The shave was very smooth and close. My usual WTG/ATG with no issues. I'm pushing it going for a 5th, but I'll 'take one for the team' and report back with the results.

Apparently it wasn't a go for JimmyH as he went MIA ? I had shave 7 on mine today smooth as can be but sharpness dropped off. Not unusual for my beard though.
