witch hazel

I like Thayers...my favorite scents are lavender and peach. I use in all my shaves.

I like the peach, too.

I wish Barrister & Mann, Mickey Lee Soapworks, or Dapper Dragon would come out with a pure peach scented shaving soap and not a blend. I have Mickey Lee's La Belle du Sud which shows a ripe peach on its label.  I love the soap and I love the scent but it doesn't smell like peach to me.  Rather, it reminds me of my late mother's homemade cinnamon and sugar cookies.

I have Tim's Greek Peach, its pretty nice, smells like the fuzzy peach candies to me, great performance too.

Ironically, I used Tim's Greek Peach this morning! I like the scent, on the sweet side and the performance is great.

It really is good though!

I have been using witch hazel for more than 40 years.  I actually do not mind the scent, though I understand why others do.  

Adding a few drops of EO/FO to scent witch hazel is also something I have been doing for a long time.  I'll do it to match up the witch hazel with a scented shaving soap/cream. Besides lavender, I also have rose, grapefruit, orange, menthol, and lemon.  I once got a sampler pack of the Thayers witch hazels. It was eight 2-oz. bottles of their different varieties and when I used them up I just started making my own.  Thayers also does a non-scented witch hazel and a cucumber scented one.  The cucumber is an amazing scent in the summer when it's hot and humid.

NOTE: Essential oils and fragrance oils should be tested first to make sure one does not have a reaction to them.  Also, only a few drops are needed in a 2-oz. bottle.

I know this thread hasn't been posted in for quite awhile but I've purchased a few of Stirling's scented WH and have really enjoyed pairing them with the various soaps and aftershaves. And I really love their MITA witch hazel...great menthol & scent. Does anyone know of other artisans which offer scented witch hazels?

I've also been thinking about buying some unscented witch hazel and adding my own oils. Freddy, do you do straight up scents in your homemade brand...such as a Lavender, a Rose, etc. Or do you have any combos/recipes you'd be willing to share? Have you ever added menthol to one of your own?

Also, can anyone say what a good oil to purchase would be? I know the artisans/merchants on here will talk about an increase in price because they are using better oils. I was just curious if anyone knew the name brand of these better oils. Or if they would even be necessary for this purpose. I'm sure I'll start with a low or middle-of-the-road brand but at least thought I'd ask.

HoosierShave, I do simple straight scents.  I would not know where to begin mixing a combination.  Most of the time I use just unscented witch hazel but, if I'm using a certain scented soap with a single or dominating scent, like rose, orange, lavender, etc. then I enjoy the matching witch hazel.

After reading a thread on B&B by a guy researching the subject, have to agree at least regarding Thayers vis-à-vis generic witch hazel: Thayers hardly bears any; it is a very minor ingredient. Generic has worked much better for my very sensitive skin and now considering trying these guys to up the actual content of active ingredient, to wit: witch hazel.

I have some Thayers and its OK but a bit pricey up here. I've been using Dickinson's enhanced Witch Hazel that I get from Wal-Mart. Its much cheaper than Thayers and works fine.
