There is no conspiracy but if a company does not release numbers, then  how can they be proud of them?

Remember, statistics are easily manipulated. 1,000% of 100 sales in 1000 sales. Thats is nothing.

1000% of 100 sales is 100,000, not 1,000.

And 100,000 razors sold at $26.00 per razor is $2.6 million.

That's a far cry from "nothing"...

And that is only 1 set of statistics from one reporting company...

Statistics can be manipulated, but math cannot...

grim is correct in his math, but is wildly mistaken about his input numbers. One store would do well over 100 safety razors any year, let alone talking about stores in the hundreds. ( Hell, one store by itself probably sells a couple hundred safety razors a week if it is around the holiday season.)

You're right BadDad, It's not nothing. Art of Shaving is a public company which must make full disclosure financial reports to the SEC every year. These reports are public and will show you exactly what their sales are, as well as how many new stores they continue to add all the time!

And AoS ain't even the biggest player in town. MicroTouch and Bevel do even better... Which is why Gillette is gearing up to re-release razors they discontinued decades ago! They have to compete with what is in Target and what is happening all around them online.

Where did you get this information? While it would be amazing to have a "new" fatboy or redtip etc etc... I find it hard to believe Gillette would ever want to cannibalize their cartridge market especially since they have skin in the game via Art of Shaving.....

I think there are quite a few reasons the 'average man' should join us...

nostalgia, wanting to pamper themselves, saving money (assuming they don't go on a spending spree), better shaves, etc., etc...

I think it's quite clear to most of us that wet shaving is on the rise.

I think almost everyone does, unless they're on a very tight budget. with the shaving products that dominate the shelves at big box stores like cartridges, canned shaving cream, foam and gel, they don't offer up a ton of choices out there like wet shaving does.

speaking as someone who is only 29, I still view shaving as a chore, but a more enjoyable chore with wet shaving than with a cartridge and canned gel.

I have read reports on several different forums, from several different independent members, including this one:

AoS managers report they will be reissuing the Gillette Tech sometime this year. (People here may want to stop by, or call around a few stores themselves as others have done.) Apparently, if the Tech sells well enough, the Fatboy would be next, and so on down the line.

Why would they do this? Well, why would they sell Merkurs in their store, and give Merkur a cut, when they can sell their own brand, the granddaddy of them all (Gillette), and bring Merkur and others down a peg?

Besides Merkur, they have to respond to the MicroTouch and Bevel (which I have not tried). They obviously don't want cart sales to go down, but if more customers are going DE, they can't afford to be late to the game!
