Vintage Ralph Lauren Safari shaving soap. This has gotten mixed reviews, but for me it lathers just as well as vintage Floris and Penhaligon's soaps, and it has a lovely fragrance.

The puck is richly scented with rosemary, resin, cedar, lavender, citrus and oakmoss, all hinting at good things to come. But mix in a few drops of water and the scent quickly loses its complexity, giving way to a soliflore rose. It's not an unpleasant rose, perhaps it's a little medicinal, but it's just not as intricate as the smell of the raw soap. Usually the moss and woods linger after the fruits and florals fade away. Chypre Rose Concerto seems to work in reverse. I'll keep fiddling with this one. Maybe my schnoz is on upside down.
Little water is needed to make a fine grained lather. It's airier than clay packed soaps, but it gives good protection, and leaves the cheeks smooth without feeling waxy or greasy. All this even though the formula doesn't contain lanolin.
