Bay Rum (Barrister & Mann) orange bay rum

This is an old tub of Bay Rum in Barrister & Mann’s Excelsior base. Though not the most up-to-date formula, it still whips up a rich, stable lather. The scent is vibrant on the puck, with a bright burst of orange that sets it apart from other bay rums. Yet, like most orange and spice concoctions, the fragrance fades quickly once lathered. To prolong the joy, I followed up with a healthy dose of St John’s bay rum cologne. In spite of its fading glory, this soap still delivers a satisfying shave, proving that true quality endures.
