Rodrigo de Jerez (Joserra) pipe tobacco
Shave 2
Tobacco Tuesday has come round again. It’s a day I look forward to. It brings back memories of the many happy years I lived on Tobacco Road. The only hitch is, today's tobacco soap hardly smells like any tobacco I’ve ever smelled. Rodrigo is sweet and spicy with a definite undertone of toasted coconut. Pour some hard sauce on it and you’ll have yourself a fine Christmas pudding. I certainly like it, especially on a blustery morning. But I’d be hard pressed to say that this reminds me of anything you might want to put in your pipe and smoke.
Later: Well, I’ll eat crow. Well watered and agitated, this soap makes a lather that smells a lot like pipe tobacco. The coconut note fades into the back and the spice and dried fruit notes come to the fore. Very nice. It reminds me of Wholly Kaw’s Dulci Tabacchi. And the performance is excellent. Thick, slick, and greasy-glossy, this Joserra lather is everything a shaver could desire.

Exactly matches my experience being a life long pipe smoker. Love all his soaps although off the puck rarely equates to lathered for me

I have the predecessor, Musashi, on which I believe Kensei is based, and like it. The one thing that I wondered about is whether the smoky note from the Lapsang Souchang tea takes over. In Musashi this element is Jasmine tea, a more subtle note.
