Windsor (D.R. Harris)

Shave 3
I’m really enjoying D.R. Harris’ hard soaps. They make a great lather, especially with a floppy Plisson brush. I’m impressed with the lather’s slip, which lasts even after the last rinse. And the tallow keeps nicks and hot spots at bay. On the down side, I have to admit the scents are mild. After a two shaves in a row, the pucks don’t smell like much at all. But if I rotate between three or four bowls, then each day when I slide off the lid, I get a pretty good whiff of something extraordinarily nice.
I just ordered a new set of backup refills. I’ve seen no evidence to support my neurotic fears, but I’m anxious that this soap company will soon go the way of all the other European hard soap makers by taking the tallow out of their recipe. Better stock up while I can.
