What did l learn today? The lids of those fantastic Meißner Tremonia glass jars fit perfectly on the Martin de Candre 200g acrylic containers. And they look a lot better than Martin de Candre’s aluminum lids. I may have to do a little rearranging.

I just read about a man who got 300 shaves out of his 200g jar of Martin de Candre. I’m only a tenth of the way there. Vétyver is a wonderful smelling soap, but do I have the stamina to finish all of it?

You grew up leaning into that persistent Wyoming wind.  That puts starch in a man’s spine and mettle in his constitution.  I’ve every faith you can and will conquer.  I’ll have my daughter sew up a cape and some stretchy pants for the occasion when you kill this everlasting gobstopper of a soap.

And just like that my trip through Vetiver land is over.  Today marked the 14th Vetiver forward soap that his Vetiver lover owns.  Yesterday was MdC Vetyver and although I don’t wish to smell like this all day long it is a great vetiver soap.  MdC performance needs no discussion.  Finish is so clean.  That odd rubber scent that is present in their soaps though.  Wish it wasn’t there but it’s too the point now I think I’d miss it if it wasn’t.  Bouki, good luck with your tub of this stuff.  Want to rid yourself of it? Send it my way!  I do like this Vetiver a lot and it will be replaced when gone which is not too far way.

And the finally is Phoenix Shavings Vetiver Planet, an unapologetic approach to Vetiver scent.  This one is smoky but not as deeply smoky as Salters.  And it’s dirty but not filthy.  This one is probably my favorite straight Vetiver for the time being and that CK6 base is excellent.  Goofy labels and weird names but boy is the stuff inside good!

Swear to God, have been thinking the exact same except criticizing not wiping off the excess before pressing! Haha

Right you are, FaceScraper. If I start a 3017 run now, this jar could be wiped clean by the end of August 2024. There’s something appealing about having only one soap on the docket. It’s not that I need to figure this lather out. I’ve had plenty of experience with Martin de Candre, and every time I get a perfect lather. Rather, it’s a chance to keep everything tidy around here, an opportunity to stow away all the tins and jars and tubs and enjoy a spell of uncluttered silence.

Bouki , that would be an admirable feat to 3017 a puck like that. To be honest, I'd place my money on the side where Dave in KY is putting his. We all know you love variety, and I was merely kidding about working straight through that tub.

Myself, I pick easy targets to 3017...soaps that are close to being finished anyway. There is something to be said about only using one soap for awhile, and when the tub is finished I'm usually met with a sense of accomplishment along with a slight touch of emptiness. In a way it's nice to have one less decision to make in a day, and having a regular scheduled rotation just ain't my style.

Nonetheless, if you are going to make a run at the MDC, I'll gladly cheer you on from the sidelines. Should you complete such a daunting task, you'd be an inspiration to us all.
