Grooming Dept. - Amare ( Mallard 2023 base ) - Delivered Monday from TRC. Shaved with it yesterday.  Had to use it again today. Intoxicating scent. Mallard base always exceeds expectations. This Mallard 2023 base is really exceptional, imo. (Sorry.. No picture. My bad Blush )

GD Mallard is amazing in every iteration since introduced and the scents have gone down as all time greats.

Today I tried to build a lather with a Zenith boar brush. What a disaster. Even after loading the brush fully, I couldn’t make enough lather for two passes. Something about that brush just eats soap. I had to pull out the Plisson pour L’Occitane brush to finish the job. Even though its tuft is light and fluffy, it makes a good lather.

And I went back to the Vector razor and the Feather Soft Guard blades after noticing some irritation coming on. The Soft Guards are not very comfortable, but they do let my skin heal.

gone to Carolina in my mind
I moved Ghost Town Barber (GTB) into the batter's box after some conversations you may have read between Bouki and me.  GTB came up in that discussion because Chiseled Face describes the soap and aftershave as having a classic barbershop scent, and I am glad that things evolved this way, because I very much enjoyed shaving with GTB tonight.

This tub of GTB is over five year's old.  It still lathers as easily as falling off a log, provides great protection and slickness, and carries the scent on the brush with almost as much strength I remember it new.  Tonight it delivered a comfortable BBS using the Type L-3 Schick in the photo (aka "Schick Grip").  The AS sillage seemed as strong and appealing as ever, and the performance was IMO fairly, if perhaps somewhat generously described by Chiseled Face: "A bracing aftershave splash with just a touch of menthol and plenty of additional ingredients to sooth[e] and heal your skin."  IME the AS is definitely bracing and the skin friendly ingredients are clearly noticeable,  but they understandably are not as skin friendly as some of thier higher priced competitors.

I recently picked up all the available samples of B&M from Maggard's and tried the Muir E Woods today - loved it!
