It's been summer hot these past few days. Upper 80s, which will continue again today. Though we are scheduled for a cool down, Yesterday afternoon I decided to take the opportunity to use a summer favorite: Dr. Jon's Savannah Sunrise.

This is such a beautiful scent. Light, but persistent. Sweet, with peach as a major player. It has a handful of floral notes supporting and rounding it out, including Honeysuckle and Jasmine.

I've probably had this soap for close to 3 years. This tub is v2, I believe? I'd guess I have 40-50% remaining. When it's closer to the bottom, I'm immediately reordering. It's a staple... A must-have in my den.

Not to cause you panic...however, I think I remember an e-mail from Maggard's where they mentioned they would be handling the liquidation of Dr. Jon's products. Seems like they may be on their way out.

Whoa! Guess I better start looking now. Cannot go without at least one more tub of this gem.

EDIT: Looks like I just made it... Albeit, I won't know for sure until it arrives. Found it at ONE store, Shave Shack Texas. Never heard of them. Hope it's legit. Definitely worth a shot, and PayPal has my back - again, I hope. Thanks again for the heads up.

Fougère Friday

LJdJ Sweet & Dandy

My Friday habit thanks to Boukimaster has been a Fougere-barbershop for day 5 of the work week.

Today was a choice that is much sweeter than my typical Fougère inventory. I would say this is a bright, powdery tobacco flower bbshop puck. Almost Tabac like without granny's purse . The scent strength in these LJDJ soaps is quite robust.

The Texas weather is hitting third gear on the heat side of the coin. The warm, amber, spicy pux are probably done for awhile .

Open the door to my shack, and it’s hard to overlook my obsession with shaving soap. A staggering 178 tubs occupy every available nook and cranny. The sheer size of the hoard has troubled me for some time now. And though I’ve racked my brains in search of a method for shrinking my collection, every tactic I’ve tried so far has failed to bear fruit. But late last night, in a rare moment of clarity, I decided to cast aside all past gimmicks and simply open the first soap on my list and see it through to completion. It’s time to embrace a new era of simplicity.

Yep, like I said the Cream matches the Cologne frangranse and is amazing to me. The Concentrate was not just the same but stronger, it was way more floral and too much for me. 2 different scents to my nose.

Have you tried Blenheim bouquet? From what I understand it’s supposed to be similar to Endymion.

I no longer have it but didn't find them to be the same at all. Can't remember specifics but it was much different..... brighter if memory serves me correctly. I'm out right now but we'll have to check and see what Penhaligon's fragrances I have left.

What a morning. I have two grated pucks of AOS sandalwood in this fly line can and man I love the huge diameter.  Can’t believe I used to use those tiny tins of soap.  Everything in small containers gets moved to bigger cans now.  Easy?  So easy to load and lather.  Great morning.  

I have a 27mm standard Ranger. This is my favorite brush. I thought about XD, but the density of the brush in Ranger seemed perfect to me. I want to try Orion. I would like to try a hair density between HD and XD. Aldo was very kind and promised to do it)

Seaforth ‘Sea Ice Lime’ Soap

This one checks all the boxes for me. The Scent is outstanding, and the Base is Top Tier in every respect. This will be in heavy rotation this Spring/Summer.

The real treat here is the ABC….. can’t go wrong with any of them, however the APRICOT is a must.  I take the ABC splash/milk very serious and the Apricot is a stand alone product.  I lose my shite when my bride is splashing it on her legs after waxing/shaving…. “Leave $75 on the sink please”

This Highland soap base is certainly top tier and Shawn Maher created a wonderful summer scent. Will be great as it warms up. Spearhead is really impressing me at the moment. 

Agreed on the Apricot Hull, a must in the den. Just love these ABC balms.
