After his historic victory against Napoleon, the first Duke was rewarded with a gracious sum from Parliament to build a 'Waterloo Palace'. Instead of embarking on a new grandiose endeavor, he opted to redeem his brother's debt by purchasing Apsley House from him. The Duke then transformed this simple brick building into a palatial residence, adorned with gifts and works of art from grateful rulers across Europe. Without a doubt, the name of this soap certainly evokes the grandeur of Britain's past, but I'm still at a loss as to why it smells so much like a contemporary French perfume.
