My 2022 discovery of the year is this soap. Tallow base and great Tom Ford like doppelganger to TV.

A couple of surprises from Dominick this weekend.  First was a jar of Kentucky Rain.  Classy jar.  Great fan of his artwork. And a rose soap that doesn’t even know how to spell Grandmas Purse.  In fact this scent would fling Grandmas Purse into a fiery furnace.  Rose gets top billing but actually plays a background role here.  So stinking masculine I might have to get more wives!  Great job Dom.

And then he made my Christmas.  If you don’t know, Dom is a top shelf Goldsmith and Jeweler (Romantique Jewelers in St Louis).  I’ve had a big Montana sapphire sitting in the safe.  My bride got It as a gift from her Grandpa.  She loves her grandpa who passed long before I came into the picture. All I’ve been is a safe keeper.  But all these years I’ve wanted her to do something wonderful with that stone.  “ Just be a diligent husband and get something done” you might think.  Great idea!  But that sentiment behind the stone wouldn’t let me fly without her.  And so I waited……and met Dominick and Romantique because of wet shaving.  I told him what I had but two years passed without movement.  Dom came to Idaho to attend a shaver meet-up my son (Teton Shaves) hosted and I invited him to stay at my shed.  I got to watch a pro at work,  I got the stone from the safe and he inspected it.  Then turned to her and asked a few questions about what she’d want thenclosed the deal with “I could take this Home with me and get some mock-ups done”.  Dom for the win, because she agreed!  So she decided a pendant and Dom worked up a couple but I was working to get her to choose RING.  She’d wear a pendant occasionally.  A ring each day.  Well, we jerked Dom through several knotholes but finally settled on a design and he built it for her.  Got it Saturday.  She cried for way too long and being male…..thought I might be in trouble, but I waited and she looked up and said, “it’s beautiful and I love it.  It reminds me of two men who love me unconditionally, my grandpa started with a stone and my husband turned it into a ring.  Dom, it’s perfect. 4 carats Is a whopper but she’s getting over her self consciousness quickly.  Beautiful work and a great gift that wouldn’t have happened without your skills. Yep, she’s been working hard at the cabin getting ready for Christmas but has a manicure scheduled for today.

Thank you so much for the kind words. Yes, the jewelry store is what keeps me from living in the woods surrounded by mounds of soap and associated accessories.
