Seaforth! Spiced (Spearhead) vanilla cardamom
Shave 3 ・ 109 g left

There’s talk of mandarin, carnation, and anise on the label, but when I lather Spiced, all I smell is vanilla and cardamom, and lots of it. In fact, it reminds me of a Indian recipe for rice pudding I used to make Saturday nights when things got drippy. I couldn’t think of anything better than a steaming bowl of this creamy sweet delight to warm my innards. This morning I woke to cold rain and nothing but drizzly prospects for the rest of the day. Weatherman says we'll be lucky to break 70°F. Man, didn’t this Spiced bring back warm memories. Nice stuff.

Danny, from TRC: Scent notes: Bourbon whiskey, Dark Rose, Dark Fruits, Dark Woods.

Formula - DonkeyBase

This has rose as a player, but not too dominant IMO. Building the lather, the dark fruits are really in front and forward [plum, currant, blueberry?]. The blend is very complicated. It has the Grooming Department DNA - by that I mean it is not a simple set of accords where you can pick out rose, sandalwood etc. It is not like Tom Ford's rose scents where chocolate or rasberry are detectable. It is not a patchouli rose, or an Sandalwood-rose. It has much a wet, fruity, cedarwood with minor rose in the midnotes to my nose. The bourbon whiskey I think is adding an 'oaked' quality to the accord.

Pomp is the perfect name as this feels like I need to put a tux on - very formal and rich. Not a tea rose or a Damascus rose. I like this better than his recent LA Rosa Profunda. The base has a more narrow water band-not quite as thirsty as the previous base formulations. I apologize as I am describing more of what it is not - than what it smells like.... No obvious analogies for me as it is so unique. Got a great shave-post was high-end as expected from MO. Built a nice low profile lather really quick [ faster than for example Omnibus which is like a camel per water needs].

Best comment I can make is I already have a backup. This will be a staple on Thu°Rose°day for me. Loved it.
