I really like it. This one smells 95% rose. A nice quality one, too.
However, others have reported that theirs has basically no rose and is all pepper. Caveat emptor.

No matter—they're both excellent soaps.

...and I don't remember almonds smelling like confectioners cherries! Go figure!!

Gentleman's Nod Musashi
C4 Base

This is a delicately scented shaving soap and the Cardinal base, version 4 is a superb base. At first, I did not well appreciate the subtlety of this Japanese blend of yuzu, pear, jasmine tea, florals, spice and woods.  So I put it away for over a month, returning to it today. What a revelation, particularly when followed by the matching aftershave.

It felt like I was back in the Japanese Tea Garden, a popular feature of San Francisco's Golden Gate Park, originally built as part of a sprawling World's Fair, the California Midwinter International Exposition of 1894. My Mother first took me there when I was growing up and it made a deep impression on me. That may have been the first time I had jasmine tea. I still remember how extraordinarily beautiful it all was.  I think it is one of San Francisco's gems, worth seeing if you visit The City.

"Originally created as a “Japanese Village” exhibit for the 1894 California Midwinter International Exposition, the site originally spanned about one acre and showcased a Japanese style garden.  When the fair closed, Japanese landscape architect Makoto Hagiwara and superintendent John McLaren reached a gentleman’s agreement, allowing Mr. Hagiwara to create and maintain a permanent Japanese style garden as a gift for posterity."  https://www.japaneseteagardensf.com/about

Sa°Tabac °urday

I struggle on Saturday sometimes - as this is a self-inflicted designated soap day - and I stare at mounds and pounds of soap not in regular rotation. And then I shave with this baby and regret nothing, reminding myself to pull the same routine next Saturday. The lather [tallow] version is great, and the post routine of AFS & ASB is on target. The Tabac ASB is really quite nice. [Image: af5f1c9169cbd60c72dc6feb43fc6b3d.jpg]
