Great shave-Encre Noir be one of the best man scent bargains out there. Good reminder to reach for it.

(I don't like megaphoning that it's vegan, because you'd never know, and I think a lot of us (me included) unfairly take a point off for that in our minds. It's excellent compared to the best of the best. Easy shave, easy lather, and skin is sooo soft and pampered afterwards.) Of course, as many noted, one does need to explore to find the right scent, they are frequently unusual. Maggard's has samples thankfully.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I was under the impression it was more difficult to make a vegan soap that has the characteristics of a tallow base.  If that's true, there should points added when there is a vegan base as good as Southern Witchcrafts.  I understand what you're saying though...tallow is a more popular base

I don't know for sure that I would say overall, "tallow is more popular". Maybe here on DFS. I've never tried SW side by side with ours so I can't speak to that.
I'd like to think we have pretty good bases, and a lot of folks have thought our veggie base is actually tallow. We don't scream it out on our labeling in either case.
Only two have fooled me [not tallow and I assumed they were] : Sir Henry's and Saponificio Varesino. Yep, your base shaves like meat baby.

Wow, that label is something as I am sure it quotes some of the negative reactions that Charkalis has gotten. In fact, I have seen a few of them here on this forum. I have never agreed with any of it. I think he makes a high quality product and I enjoy the branding. Unfortunately, his branding makes him a target and appears to engender a negative response from the overly sensitive.

I couldn't care less about the "sexist" labels. We could say the same thing about 95% of Corporate America's commercials in everyone's face on TV (being "feminist" (the other sexist) garbage). The clueless idiot, weak guy and his genius, logical, strong wife in every ad.
What bothers most people is their scents.
Personally, I've owned OVER THIRTY of their soaps because I love their base... hoping to find a few scents that smell natural/high quality... If I sold all the scents I don't like (and I'm in process now), I'd have ONE left. And even that one isn't great, it's just not a fragrance oil bomb.
Bases are top tier... Scents are not.
Why he'd make a soap label acknowledging that instead of correcting it is beyond me.
Just my observations... Not picking a fight. I everyone's posts.
I am with Neroli's opinion on this. Scents are fair but do remind of candle shops and Bed Bath & Beyond. Base is top tier. I have one I do really enjoy [tobacco Vanille cousin] - and have given away all others. I think i may have summer Fig still. Ethos, DG, GD, Sir Henry and WK reign king for me on top tier scents&base. Omnibus is my dilemma. Favorite lather but scents don't ring my bell. Sorry for the ramble & highjacking our focus. Just a favorite subject for us puck nerds , right?

Head Shave

Razor: Futur Merkur
Blade: Astra SP
Brush: Simpson T3
Soap: 345 Co. Rhumpkin
Splash: PAA Atomic Pumpkin

I truly forgot how efficient the Futur is and how you must respect her power. I had a few weepers on this shave. I had to turn down the dial on her. Rhumpkin I love the smell but wished it was stronger. The performance is amazing and at 5.6 ounces for around $16 this is a bargain. I'm still back and forth on buying the Rhumpkin splash now that is back in stock. I really love the Atomic Pumpkin and it has really good staying power.

Notes: Pumpkin, Apple, Bay Rum

This was an 8 out of 10.

I have to throw the penalty flag on this for flagrant use of a potato peeler to shave.

Careful, I'm labeled as "overly sensitive " Of course I like to consider it standards Tongue
