Razor: Copper Ascension
Blade: Astra SP
Brush: Paladin Chief 26mm
Soap: Hags Hell Fire Club
After-Shave: Hell Fire Splash

My first time using Hags and it's a great base. Easy to load and dense slick lather. The scent is a homage to Dior Sauvage. The scent is strong in a good way. This is going to be a staple in my Den. The brush was softer and easier to load today. Not sure if it was breaking in or the soap.

I like to load these Wholly Kaw soaps heavy, about two grams per shave. You’d think that much soap would make mountains of lather. Fact is, I’m getting just enough for two passes and some clean up. Good gravy, though, it’s rich. And as I’m just discovering, with enough water, it’s extremely slick. The edge of the blade is just barely noticeable. I still haven’t tried WK’s Siero base, but I’m so happy with these old pucks, I don’t feel the need to upgrade.

Hey Bouki,
I understand that this is often described (including by you, I reckon) as in the family of Brut. What would your nose say are the differences? Curious because I like the idea of Brut, but my schnoz doesn't love it like it should. Missing depth/too linear, or something? (Too high of expectations for a drugstore item, that's part of it - I know.)
What do you think?

Hey, NeroLa Fougère Parfaite is a pretty close take on modern Brut, the kind currently distributed by Helen of Troy. It's pale compared to the original Brut of the 60s and 70s. There's no complexity, and there's no bottom in it. What you get is a clean lavender, some citrus, geranium and mint (?) coupled with a watery coumarin scent that reminds me of an indoor swimming pool. I'm not getting much wood or moss or patchouli, but then those note are pretty thin in modern Brut too. So, snaps to Wholly Kaw for making a soap that pairs quite well with Brut as we know it today. But doggone I wish Sri had used vintage Brut or even Azzaro pour Homme instead as his inspiration for a perfect fougère.

... just splashed some modern Brut cologne on my face. It starts out greener than La Fougère Parfaite, but that dissipates in almost an instant. Before it disappears though, this urinous note wells up (fans of Kouros will like that part). It too disappears in seconds. Still, I'm glad to say that skanky bit never made it into Wholly Kaw's soap.

Brush: Paladin Cheif 26mm
Soap: Talbot Winter Refraction
After-Shave: Alum & Winter Refraction Splash

Another first time using Talbot and this scent. Wow, this base is slick and the scent just gets better with time. I bought this set used and unfortunately, the soap started out as only 3oz and I'm not sure how many shaves I can get out of it. I can't seem to find the soap anywhere (maybe it's not out yet for this year) but I have found the splash online the bottle of splash is almost full so I'm good there. I like the scent enough to buy another puck once I find it.
