La vita è bella.
This stuff ticks all the boxes:
[] Likely my favorite scent in my den. Unique and high quality. Transporting.
[] Beautiful lather. Great feel.
[] Easy peezy, comfortable shave.
[] Feather-soft skin, calm as if I didn't shave.
[] Quality packaging.
[✓] All of the above!
I have a request. Can you send a picture of the inside of the jar? I'm curious about the texture/consistency of that stuff.
Kind of like firm clay. Sorry, not home at the moment.

Rose Absolute Cream (The Art of Shaving) perfect pink rose
Shave 2 ・ 110 g left

We’ll bid the season farewell with this last rose of summer. It’s an absolutely lovely floral scent. And the performance is pretty good too. The instructions on the back of the jar mention legs, under arms, and bikini lines. Looks like The Art of Shaving meant to market this as a women’s shaving cream, but I like it too. So good-bye to the summer of ’22. And hello to all the woody and leafy and ashy scents of autumn!

The Body Shop "Maca Root Shave Cream" - 2nd gen. (from the middle tub)
I think it might've been 10 years old or so.

It's not a lot different from the current 3rd version, other than the scent being not as nice as the 3rd gen. Someone called it "more candle shop than barber shop".
It does give good results though. The 2nd and 3rd versions both have Aloe, but they made it more prominent on the label.

My next use of it will be featured in the "done & dusted" thread.

Hey Zac,
If it has the tobacco scent (with eucalyptus), you have the v2.
v1 was just the eucalyptus/menthol scent. Many people thought it was just repackaged Proraso, though I can't confirm. I had v1 but it was something I was "afraid" to use, so I moved it on... Same with Yardley (many, including several Black Label... including 3 of the different triangle bowls) and Penhaligon's EF and BB. Seems so stupid now.

Anyway, v3 is like v2, but more voluminous lather.

I always thought v2 got worse-than-deserved reviews... Always had excellent shaves with it. Agree with everyone and proudly admit, however, that the lather volume / latherability was not favorable.

Hey Nero thanks for your reply. A couple of your comments seem to be in line with my memory now. I want to say around the time I started working at Old Town Shaving years ago, they probably only had come out with v1 at that time. One day, my boss Damon lent me his white tub of the SMN. Now at that time, I was plenty familiar with all the popular creams, TOBS, GFT and as you mentioned, Proraso. So I go to use it one time and I’m sitting there saying “this seems like Proraso green” and I didn’t like how that soap soap worked. The Proraso creams to me are much more respectable. So long story short, it smelled like eucalyptus and menthol and the soap association was enough for me to become uninterested. Never felt like I missed much.

But it must not have been that long after that they came out with the Tobacco Toscano (I guess V2?). Anyways, I think this scent is rad, interesting and fresh enough. Reminds me slightly of i Coloniali in the sense of lather, slick but a bit lower profile and thin and interesting scent.

Very neat stuff Zac!! I didn't know you worked at Old Town! I spoke to Damon a few times on the phone... And I took a few of the v1 XPEC off his hands Big Grin
Another I regrettably eventually sold!!
Yes v2 was the first version with the Toscano.
Ditto on Proraso cream > soap
