Bouki i'm pretty sure I have v1 of SMN that I was shaving with recently. It's an old sample from years ago but I would agree. The lather won't absorb a bunch of water and become thick. It is plenty slick to me but found I wish it would be a little thicker. So then I just started adding a bit of kokum butter on top of the loading sample and that helps a bit.

I also have a sample of the old ABC cream that has hardened and lost all scent. I should try to reach for it sometime and access how it is. My assumption (guess) years ago was that ABC had a good formula with their shave soap and cream had something to do with their proportion of coconut oil, glycerin and sweet almond oil. The ingredients they used in their formulas weren't anything special or much different to many Italian soft soaps that have been around. Again, just my opinion, but it does seem like a soap like ABC had more compliments mentioned on the forums like the slickness being notable or very good.

DanLaw I hope you get to feeling better Dan, take care and cheers

Hey Zac,
If it has the tobacco scent (with eucalyptus), you have the v2.
v1 was just the eucalyptus/menthol scent. Many people thought it was just repackaged Proraso, though I can't confirm. I had v1 but it was something I was "afraid" to use, so I moved it on... Same with Yardley (many, including several Black Label... including 3 of the different triangle bowls) and Penhaligon's EF and BB. Seems so stupid now.

Anyway, v3 is like v2, but more voluminous lather.

I always thought v2 got worse-than-deserved reviews... Always had excellent shaves with it. Agree with everyone and proudly admit, however, that the lather volume / latherability was not favorable.

I have a request. Can you send a picture of the inside of the jar? I'm curious about the texture/consistency of that stuff.
