2022 is coming along nicely. Between January and the end of August I will have lathered about 456 grams of soap. That’s the equivalent of four four-ounce tubs, or about 1.9 grams of soap per shave. What’s odd is how even with a wide variety of soaps, all different densities and sizes and ages, over the course of many months I always end up with the same average rate of usage. In other words, for the last two or three years, I’ve been cruising at 1.9 grams of soap for each shave, or one tub of soap every sixty days. I feel like I’ve discovered some sort of tonsorial constant, like the speed of light for wet shaving.

As someone who doesn't measure the amount of soap used, your posts might just lead me to doing so.  I've got a precise scale that I only use for measuring coffee beans, so why not another use as well?

Remnants can be employed to clean the beans and impart flavour, eh? Haha

Right on, Lesser & Dan! I wouldn't take anything I write too seriously. Most of the time I'm just poking fun at those parts of my life that rely so heavily on bean counting. I think it's great to have a site like DFS where we can all revel in the absurdity of our passion for shaving soaps and also parody our hyper-metrical lifestyles.

So what soap did you shave with today?

Today: dark, almost black, sample of Safi from Patriot. Amazing shave on bad day for Enzo. He quite ill.
