Sorry to hear it, DanLaw. After Coco, now another? We just put down a dog; very sad all around. So, all my sympathies.
More so mine for you and yours.
Leonard Cohen, a prophet of freedom fighters, famously penned an anthem of the dispossessed entitled: 'Everybody Knows'. A beautiful yet nihilistic song. One of the verses goes:
'Everybody got this broken feeling
Like their father or their dog just died'
Having experienced both, they about worst experiences in life
May your family find peace in their memories. Mean that sincerely as trite as such wishes can seem.
Hopefully Enzo makes it.

Shave 2 ・ 174 g left
2022 is coming along nicely. Between January and the end of August I will have lathered about 456 grams of soap. That’s the equivalent of four four-ounce tubs, or about 1.9 grams of soap per shave. What’s odd is how even with a wide variety of soaps, all different densities and sizes and ages, over the course of many months I always end up with the same average rate of usage. In other words, for the last two or three years, I’ve been cruising at 1.9 grams of soap for each shave, or one tub of soap every sixty days. I feel like I’ve discovered some sort of tonsorial constant, like the speed of light for wet shaving.

Razor Overlander ・ Blade PolSilver ・ Brush Blue Lagoon ・ Hoard 17,711 g
For creams out of a tube I just wing it, then add a bit more because I want to use them up.
The tablespoon was seconded to kitchen duty as a dedicated coffee measure. Two (shallow rounded) per cup.
August 29 soap du jour: Proraso Green (croap).
I used to hate this stuff.
Now I quite like it, it's cheap as chips, and went so far as to buy the 400 ml bottle of matching AS.
I see that Proraso Green is approximately 1 gram per ml, so at 1.28 g per shave, I'm falling behind you (1.9 g) in soap consumption.
We'll ignore the very slight rounding that I get on the measuring spoon by scraping it off on the inner edge of the tub.
We could be Heroes, just for one day.

Razor: Roller Guard Razor
Blade: Wizamet
Brush: Spartan Custom/Cashmere
Soap: Mcduff's Birch + Root
AS 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla 70
AS 2: Nivea 2 into 1
Fragrance:
Consecutive Daily Shaves - # 1,393
Some realize they made a roller guard they sold to use with the Gillette old types but fewer know the company had a complete Roller Guard Razor as well. I've had the Guard before in the green box and sold it as I acquired some time ago the actual Roller Guard Razor. The Guard does indeed actually roll as you shave. Some blade feel, but a mild yet efficient shave. I find this soap base a gluey/goopy consitency until you give it enough water. it's a thirsty one for sure but a great feeling soap on the face and scent of pure birch root. Have a great day Everyone !
