Royal Fougère (Asylum Shave Works) English Fern
Shave 29 ・ 61 g left
This smells wonderful, all green and minty with a big pinch of geranium and maybe some violet leaf, just the thing for a hot Saturday shave. Of course, like most of our grandest soaps, Royal Fougère is defunct, but thankfully there’s enough soap left in my bowl for at least thirty more fantastic shaves. Thanks to my bloated rotation, that's what, about ten more years of shaving with this soap! So I love it, but I sure wish there were some kaolin in the mix. The lather is thick, but it’s not as thirsty or as protective as Mike’s, which has become my benchmark for how a shaving soap should perform (if only Mike made a fougère).
