This artisan takes obvious pride in their craftsmanship.  On their website they state:  "This is a tallow-based shaving soap using only premium quality ingredients. Some of our ingredient superstars include shea butter, kokum butter, glycerin, and lanolin. The tallow we use is of unsurpassed quality using only the kidney fat, and we are committed to only using 100% organic raised and certified organic grass-fed beef, free from antibiotics, synthetic hormones, GMO feed, or pesticide exposure."

The scent features tobacco leaf, amber and vanilla and is relatively strong off the puck.   The vanilla imparts a brown hue to the soap.

Glenn, how was the quality of the lather ? Did it match the claimed quality of ingredients?

The Crowne & Crane Tobacco Leaf & Amber lather was excellent and did, in my opinion, match the claims made for high quality. As with all my shaves these days, I loaded more than enough soap for 4 passes by cutting it off the puck and smearing it on the bottom of my copper lathering bowl. I explain this because I likely use more soap than most per shave. But there is a price to be paid. This requires that I spend a good deal of time working the lather with a brush. All this prep paid off with Tobacco Leaf & Amber producing a thick yet slick lather with a glossy sheen. This is a competently produced soap in my opinion.

Thanks Dan.  This boar suits me to a tee - right backbone, splay, flow-through, and by now, very well broken in tips.  Actually, mine is showing its age.  You can pick a new one up for under $15 USD, and they look like this ...

Barrister & Mann Passiflora
Ominbus Base

I was searching for a soap to match up with my Declaration B11 brush and this Omnibus based soap fit the bill.  Extraordinary lather and plenty of it in contrast to my last use of this brush wherein it refused to release lather from the soap (I don't recall which one).

Passiflora is simply a tour de force in all respects apart from questionable label art which, unfortunately, resembles a skin blemish.

Had not encountered that Omega. $15 or $400, that brush is gorgeous.

Incidentally, am of same opinion regarding removing decals. Simpson brushes look much better devoid of decals as well.
