MacDuff's Lilacs in Bloom
V4 Tallow Base
"A true lilac scent with hints of peony and sweetened with lemon. For a more authentic approach this year's version uses lilac absolute and introduces a vegetal "green" accord using jasmine absolute, ylang ylang and galbanum."

Judging from the description quoted above, MacDuff's was seeking an authentic lilac scent supported by a natural green accord.  I think they succeeded.  The V4 base is soft, really soft but does lather up to glossy sheen which I tend to prefer.

I wholeheartedly agree...fantastic lather but the scent just wasn't for me.  It's a nice scent, just not one of my favorites

Wow...fantastic scent!  The scent really reminds of a "muted" Mexican Wedding Cake Cookie.  A strong nut scent with a sweet vibe

Talbot Coles Pond….love the scent on this oldie but goodie…but as a result of the “Base Wars” performance isn’t nearly as good as I thought when I first got it. Too many better bases out there now..

Did you ever notice that Barrister & Mann gives some of their soaps a number? It’s right there on the label after the name. For instance, Cologne Russe is 05, Seville is 04, and today’s soap, Bay Rum, is 01. Does that mean it’s the best in their lineup? Yup.

When I first picked this soap up I was enamored by the spicy citrus/wood notes.  It’s still very nice but I prefer the original better.  Lather sure rocked it today though.
