In my shave life, I have just two simple goals. First, find a combination of soap, razor, blade, and technique that will let me shave everyday without irritation. And second, diminish this incredible hoard of soap I’ve collected over eight years of wet shaving. I’m making progress on the first goal. I’ve got a handful of soap brands that consistently work well for me. Ethos right now is at the top along with Meißner Tremonia, Saponificio Varesino, and Barrister & Mann. And I’ve singled out a few razors that I really like: the Henson, Tatara's Masamune, Karve's Christopher Bradley, and Gillette's Tech are mild and smooth enough for everyday use. My best blades are Astra SPs. And as far as technique goes, looks like most of my face fares best with only one with-the-grain pass. Lip and chin get two.
But what about the second goal: wearing away the hoard? Aye, there’s the rub. Even though I’m constantly converting old shaving soaps and creams to hand washing, the overall immensity of the hoard changes but little. I just keep ordering too much product. In fact, I’ve bought eight tubs of soap so far this year. So it’s time to call a halt. No new soap until the hoard has diminished by at least 114 grams, the weight of a typical tub of soap. I’ll keep track in the SOTD listing below. The little red -41g shows how much the hoard has shrunk this year. When that number hits -114, I’m back in the market.
Of course, there is one exception. If Frank’s Sándolo Artistico drops before I hit -114, it’s going in the cart. And I expect it’s going to be the big boy jar, too!

It is Thursday and a memory of something keeps trying to surface. Why, per TommyCarioca it is Thu-RoSe-day! Glad I remembered. Elsewhere on this forum vtmaxstates: "Incense & Rose might be the greatest wet shaving scent ever created." https://damnfineshave.com/thread-grooming-dept?page=213. It is a very nice scent and the lather from this soap was superb today. GroomingDept

Frenchy Friday
Feather razor and blade with MdC has been a no-brainer choice weekly. I must admit the brain bowl has surprised me with its attributes. Easy to lather, nothing to fuss worth, simplicity of usage, and appearance on my sink. It will still be higher than bowl in 10 years even with weekly use. I plan on using this as a gift for buddies who don't wet shave. Very easy to use in all aspects. A 10 second load is requisite for a sloppy 3 pass shave, and the ergonomics of the loading are perfect.

This is one of my favorite spring/summer scents. Sweet fruit and floral. Light, crisp, and absolutely perfect.
About half a puck left still. Regardless, this one will always be replaced. Dr. Jon's knocked it out of the park with this soap.
