Whipped up some Sir Henry’s Sandalwood from a sample for the first time… and what a shave! Scent and performance were top shelf, likely with a slightly more cushion than the non-tallow soaps, but the end result speaks for itself. Glad I took the chance on Sir Henry’s as it’s bound to be a staple in my den.
Topped off with Ethos Mysore Santal and off we go for the evening.
Fresco (Ethos) minty lime basil

Day three with this soap and everything is going swimmingly. Along with learning how to make a world-class lather from it, I’m getting better acquainted with its fragrance. The spearmint, that was rather lurking at first, has at last blossomed. It's not so strong as to make everything smell like chewing gum. It's just a bit of wholesome freshness tucked in tidy with the lime and basil. All in all, a very nice, clean scent that’s pleasantly inviting day after day.
Razor note: first shave with the Karve Overlander. Good gracious, what a shaver! It just shot to the top of my list of mild-&-efficient whisker whackers.

Have an old 80's fragrance I was partial to in college and wore frequently when on the prowl. - Krizia. It is an inexpensive green bomb with enough bitter herbal notes that I have convinced myself this is why I am in love with la Aventurra as I think it is almost a dead ringer.

Why, why, why is this so infrequently in rotation? Art of Shaving Sandalwood (Valobra) hasn’t been made for many years now but it sure doesn’t have to hand it’s head to any of the newer soaps. It loads fast. It lathers wonderfully slick and cushioning. Best of all is that sandalwood scent. I have maybe 8 pucks in reserve after gifting two to a son who appreciates it as much as I do. Guessing I know what he’ll smell like this morning too. This is a higher structure lather like Tabac and Sir Henrys and both of those are simple to use and excellent too. That fattie three-band gave me three passes and still had enough lather for two or three more. The Henson really loved the soap and I wish I could get over that ugly purple color….
