Ethos Lavender…my original v1, two year old, 7.5 size is like the Energizer Bunny….It just keeps going and going…With a spectacular shave every time..Just a little bit in my scuttle whips up more than enough for a 3 pass shave and the all important residual lather coat after the last pass which I don’t rinse off until after I clean up..

I've been going back and forth between these two trying to knock them out.  I have plenty of other soap, I just tell myself I can buy more when I use these up.  ?

Shannon's Soaps Indigo Oud

This is a soap that I have wanted to try for a while. Shannon says: "Sultry and exotic, Indigo Oud starts with a spicy base of vanilla, sandalwood, and oud, adds warm leather, tobacco, and ambergris, and is topped off with lively black currant and bergamot."  My own impression is that this scent is indeed sultry.  It blossoms when the matching aftershave is applied. I am enjoying it now as I sit here post-shave.  This is a good one.

I like Shannon's Soaps a lot.  Those that I have tried are well-scented using a combination of essential oils and fragrance oils (some are essential oils only).  I think it is worthwhile to step up and purchase the higher priced premium and Rustbelt Reserve soaps as these seem to provide me with a little more cushion, slickness and post-shave.  I do enjoy my tub of Silk Pajamas currently offered in the so-called premium Chupacabra base. One more thing: Shannon's is establishing a well-crafted brand image as demonstrated by the striking graphics on the Rustbelt Reserve labels.

All this talk of GroomingDept Mallard Coconut Rum and suddenly mine appeared on Friday. Judging by the smell off the puck, I wasn’t quite sure this gourmand would be to my liking, but this morning I finally had a chance to dig in and give it a try.

As I worked the lather, I was happy to find that the scent was very pleasant and avoided an overly sweet rendition that I was worried about. The coconut rum, tonka and vanilla blend well, but the wood barrel accord might have been the most surprising. Perhaps it was my neighbour’s wood burning fireplace, but there was the pleasant scent of burning wood, similar to a candle with a wooden wick. The more I worked the lather, the more my nose glimpsed these different and wonderful aspects.

Overall, this is one of the best scents in my den, and I can’t wait to shave again; maybe I can sneak in an extra shave tonight! And performance? One of the very best, as many of my other GD soaps.
