All this talk of GroomingDept Mallard Coconut Rum and suddenly mine appeared on Friday. Judging by the smell off the puck, I wasn’t quite sure this gourmand would be to my liking, but this morning I finally had a chance to dig in and give it a try.
As I worked the lather, I was happy to find that the scent was very pleasant and avoided an overly sweet rendition that I was worried about. The coconut rum, tonka and vanilla blend well, but the wood barrel accord might have been the most surprising. Perhaps it was my neighbour’s wood burning fireplace, but there was the pleasant scent of burning wood, similar to a candle with a wooden wick. The more I worked the lather, the more my nose glimpsed these different and wonderful aspects.
Overall, this is one of the best scents in my den, and I can’t wait to shave again; maybe I can sneak in an extra shave tonight! And performance? One of the very best, as many of my other GD soaps.
Oh boy I love the smell of Eucris but had to grate it with some unscented soap to salvage performance. I wonder why a company would accept sub-par performance from a soap and not fix the issue? The soap is slick but it won’t lather. It’ll bubble sure enough but if you think modern Williams can dissipate, Trumpers is the Usain Bolt of soap lather. The starting gun goes off and it’s GONE!
Packing up the shave den today and this may be the last soap you see for awhile. The remodel doesn't start for another couple of weeks but the majority of soaps are boxed up and in the basement. Since the whole family will be using one bathroom, I've been asked (very politely I might add) to choose one setup for the next ~3 months. Some tough decisions are having to be made...especially for someone who loves variety

I thought it was going to be Mitchell's Wool Fat, out of an Old Spice mug.
Once I started brushing it on for the first pass I realized that it was actually Williams Mug, which I had transferred out of another OS mug some months ago..
It coulda' been worse, like shortening.
Or tofu.
Now I have MWF to look forward to tomorrow night, now that I've found it. Yay!

We could be Heroes, just for one day.
