When I ordered this soap, I was expecting to smell the rich and complex aroma of a spice market in a North African souk. The label says it’s scented with copaiba leaves, cloves, and red sandal, and that sounded like an intriguing mix. But to be honest, the leaves and sandal are just there to provide a dusky back drop. What you smell up front is almost entirely cloves. That’s fine. I love that scent too. My dad always chewed clove gum, so it brings back good memories. Still, it's kind of mild. To ramp up the spice, I gave myself a generous splash of Captain’s Choice Cat o’ Nine Tails and finished off with a spritz of Timbuktu.
