It’s all about the juniper! As disappointed as I was with Mystic Waters Poggio dei Pini, Stirling Gin and Tonic saved the day. As of late, I’m pretty fussy about scent. For example, Gentleman’s Nod Zaharoff is an excellent scent and I would not hesitate to wear Zaharoff as a perfume, but I don’t care for it in a soap. I want something more esoteric. Something I wouldn’t wear as a perfume but still find extremely interesting. Leviathan would be such a scent (yes, I’ve grown to love it) but not in EdP. In fact a lot of beloved B&M soaps would not make the EdP cut. Most of my most favorite scents would fall into this category. Texas on Fire, Salters French Vetiver, AOS rose, Tim’s Breakfast of Champions, a lot hit the spot in soap but would make a terrible perfume. Some I like both soap and perfume. Sir Henrys Sandalwood, Black Velvet, and Quartet, would all fit that bill. And some favorite colognes I never want to see in a soap! Polo Green is my favorite but I sure don’t want it in a soap. Stirling Gin and Tonic? Love the scent. Have the aftershave. Most likely don’t want to smell that way for others. Man, each time I use a Stirling soap I wonder why he sells so cheap.
