I wonder if they switched something up to keep it from happening, considering Nero got a good one. Either that or just luck of the draw. For the sake of future purchasers, I hope they did make some changes.

Just received mine over the weekend, if that helps.
I think it definitely gives hope for others, Nero.

As a point of reference, mine was quite a while ago... Sometime in October? That could mean they've revamped their packaging, which would save other from my fate.

I kid you not when I say it was soaked and the consistency of soft butter. Absolutely atrocious. Not sure where it got in this condition - A&E or The Razor Company. Either way, it's good to see they may have remedied the issues.

Thanks!

I ordered mine last Monday and received it yesterday.  I didn't order directly form A&E so maybe the vendor had some original pucks in stock.  But mine arrived the same as yours mrdoug...paper had soaked into the soap, the label was warped, and the consistency of the soap was like soft butter.  I do enjoy the scent though

Like Nero said the other day, having a lot of shaving stuff is great fun … until it’s not. For nearly eight years I’ve been sorting through heaps of soap, shuffling through boxes of razors, bumbling through a jumble of brushes almost every day – it gets to be a little distracting. What I’m trying to say is, it’s time to give it all a rest, at least for a little while. Instead of constantly rotating through all this gear looking for the optimal arrangement, maybe I’ll just stick with the kit I used today. The razor is mild, the brush is trusty, and the soap lathers under nearly any conditions. Let’s hope this gentle set up will help me focus entirely on technique.

(Don't worry, though, resolutions like this never last long with me. I can still hear the siren song of all those fantastic soaps I've packed away. It won't be long before my will is broken.)

Thank goodness!  Your Soap of the Day posts are one of two morning favorite rituals for me the past few years...the other being a pot of coffee.  Although I have no doubt you would be able to provide us with a daily literary treat of MdC Original for the next 6 months, your variety of soaps is also what makes the posts so interesting (and my wallet lighter in many instances)

BTW, the nightmare of using one kit for an extended period of time will soon become my reality.  We will be starting a major remodel in a couple months and will be down to one full bath.  I have already been politely informed that my shave collection will not be welcome into this temporary den Sad

Ethos Grooming Peppermint body shave/bath bar (prototype). On first use, I would say good quite for face shaving, but I think it will be even better if I face lather rather than building lather in my scuttle bowl and as my technique improves. I actually didn't use the aftershave I had planned for today, and the soap left my skin feeling very soft, supple, and moisturized.

One of my favorites to lather with, I'm one of those that likes the smell and can see the Tabac in this ceramic bowl lasting a very long time despite shaving with every Tuesday!

All the smart ones like Tabac!  I’m with you on that one.  Tabac is “masculine tranquility” to my nose.
