What soap/cream did you use today?

Find the Omnibus cushion and postshave superiour to any of B&M's earlier offerings and only surpassed by ETHOS (albeit it getting close). May I suggest aggressively approaching hydration from first application of brush to soap whether puck loaded or bowl lathered

Is that what you do with Ethos too?

Not really expert on anything but if you want a tyro's perspective, strictly bowl lather ETHOS using a damp brush until all soap transferred to bristles then slowly add water until lather expands losing all aeration bubbles and is thick yet slightly runny.

To my perspective the lather should be somewhere between whipped egg whites and classic yogurt as opposed to the frozen softserve ice cream of many lather porn photos.  The latter consistency looks great but results in terrible cushioning and postshave from my experience which are critical to my damaged and sensative skin

Nero, Dan, and Bouki - had 2 shaves with Omnibus this week. I like it better [slightly] than the Reserve pux. This stuff is very thirsty as we all have noted. It does not blow out like some of the finniicky water hungry soaps like Mystic Waters or GD, which require incrementally small water adds to avoid bubbles and the dreaded thin dissipating lather. It does take some patience to get the water in her, but I find it really performs and is well worth the work. Not finniicky, just really thirsty. It took me about 7 minutes of dipping tips and building on my face to get her where Dan and I like it. Okra snot baby!

Interesting idea.  The first "brick book" that comes to mind for me is Robin Buss' translation of The Count of Monte Cristo.  I wonder what soap would go with that?

Unabridged, huh. That takes dedication, HighSpeed. For the Count of Monte Cristo, I might lean toward a new tub of Martin de Candre Fougère. A great French soap for a great French book. Both are built to last. What do you think?

Thank you Bouki.   I'm of two minds on the MdC Fougère.  OT1H, it pairs well with the book in ways that never occurred to me until you mentioned it.  For example, MdC's ethnicity matches the characters' ethnicity; MdC's marketing image fits with their time period and station; and the titular nobility of Houbigant's original Fougère Royale fits too.  And yes, both are definitely built to last!  OTOH in my mind, MdC does not really speak either to the initial treachery, or to the ensuing clever and swashbuckling adventures through which Dantès loses and then wins back his freedom, reputation, wealth, and true love.

But at the end of the day, I think MdC Fougère would do well enough; I'm beginning to see how easy it is to overthink these things; and I thank you again.
