And this morning’s shave was even better than yesterday’s.  Mikes Orange, Cedar, Black Pepper might be even a better scent and performance was excellent.  The Rockwell was throwing smoke today too.  I find myself most often going two passes and done.  The razors I’m using don’t  need another pass.

Lip, two quick questions and extra credit:
(1) What Rockwell baseplate are you using? (I suspect it's either 5 or 6.)
(2) Which razor do you like better, the Rockwell or the Blackbird?
(Extra credit) Will Blackland ever make a black anodized Blackbird razor again? (Shane, if you're tuning in, you're welcome to reply.)

1). I find the Rockwell too mild on the usual 3 or 4 that most seem to find best thus yes, I use the 5/6 plate on the 5 side and really find that to be well mannered.  Perhaps I need to flip it to 6 just to see.  I’ve wondered if my Rockwell is different than most?? And milder?
2). Hmmm.  Like better is a tough one because the Rockwell on 5 is just so comfortable and auto-pilot.  That said, the Blackbird rivals the Merkur Futur for super close 2-pass shaves.  MIM razor vs CNC.  I suppose if I was pushed and could only have one I’d choose the Blackbird and I don’t suppose that has anything to do with one costing twice what the other does so it has to be better or I wasted my money.

Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements - Supreme Sandalwood Science (CK-6)

When I was growing up a Triple-S meant something else that make us smile. Leave it to Douglas to repurpose the acronym, and to good effect. He uses 3 different species of sandalwood to make this scent. Probably a little sweeter than I'd have my personal target, but still quite nice (and different from my other ones), so no complaints from me. It has the spicy, the sweet, and the woodsy. And once in a while, the cream.

A plain vanilla shave.  And that's not a bad thing. Ethos Vanilla Safi.

I Coloniali Mango

I am hooked on this soap. Have used it more than anything less Grooming Department La Aventura & Tabac this year. Extinction for this species of soap was/is tragic.

Strong ’n Scottish v. (Meißner Tremonia) smoky peat
Shave 9 ・ 94% left

This was once a bold reeking soap. Time, though, has mellowed it. Now it reminds me of damp earth and ditches full of smoldering piles of leaves. It’s a great scent for autumn. And it’s a great performing soap as well. I believe Strong ’n Scottish is the only soap in Meißner Tremonia repertoire to feature lanolin. The rest of their products are strictly vegetal. But my, how a little lamb wax does a face good.
