I believe Local Gent Shaving came on the scene in 2015 and I was an early customer.  Previous to that there were a lot of melt and pour glycerine shaving soaps that were mostly scented with off-the-shelf fragrance oils so most often one artisans Sandalwood was the same as another’s and other scents were very similar to that.  (At least that was my opinion at the time.) when Local Gent came on the scene I was impressed with their scents and being they were from California, they seemed to have a summery vibe with citrus providing a lot of lift.  At any rate, the soaps were/are easy enough to use and scents were very nice. I Alas, Local Gent seems to be clear out of the soap making game these days.  No more website, although it looks like they do have an Etsy store selling shaving accoutrements.  I have this Bay Rum and a Sandalwood puck left and would like to still have some of his California Barber.  So good.

XPEC Unscented shaving cream (v.1) + Rose Absolute Trilogy Hydrosol + Ethos Grooming Mélange d'Agrumes. The older version of XPEC makes fantastic lather, and the scents were great in it. I love Frank's scents, and the Mélange is a favorite.

Thanks to a trade with one of our great DFS members, AlanH81, I was able to finally try Eufros Vetiver de Haiti.  TommyCarioca's description of "bacon grease" really had me intrigued and I knew I had to try it one day.  I can certainly see bacon grease as an apt description.  But to me, this one is very similar Mike's Vetiver (one of my favorites).  Vetiver de Haiti has a strong scent off the tub and that bacon grease really hits you the first time you smell the soap.  But deeper breaths reveal that nutty/dirt vibe I've always associated with Mike's.  I can't thank AlanH81 enough as this one will definitely be in the rotation for a long time!

Say anise and I'm in. And if I had to choose one, this blows the others out of the water. What a fantastic, classy scent. And there's really nothing else like it.

Showing the Colonia Essenza aftershave because it also has a great anise note...and if I could only have one ADP, this is it. No hesitation. What a duo.
