Different, and I like it. Most bay rums are just too spicy for me to enjoy to the fullest. This one doesn't have that edge.

Earthy, like roots. Calm. It almost has a natural cured tobacco leaf quality to it, though I don't see it in the notes. (Not sweet tobacco ala SMN or the array of tobacco-vanilla scents out there.) A nice blend.

Woods of Windsor shaving soap (tallow). Like all old soaps, this one is gradually losing its scent, but it still has a little of it, and it makes great lather.

Looks like this cream is going to wins points for longevity. I’ve enjoyed three rich lathers using less than a gram of soap for each. (That's about the same as Martin de Candre.) At this rate I’ll get well over 300 slick shaves out of this pot. Up front Crema da Barba may be expensive, but in the long run I’ll be spending well under a quarter for each use. Oh, and it smells great ... sweet tobacco, eucalyptus, and menthol. A league of extraordinary scents that goes down well no matter what the weather may be.

Santa Maria Novella sits at the table with the greats; AbC, MdC, AdP, Hemingway’s, Penhaligon, xPEC, AoS, Boellis, Valobra….

What a wonderful shave and post too.  The menthol is NOT overdone, that’s key.  Scent is heaven for me on this one Bouki, I get Begamot/Tobacco right out of the gate with an Amber/Vanilla once I work it on to my face and neck!

Worth every 71

FWIW:  If Bouki hadn't already sold me, you would have!

Some time back, Steve56 was kind enough to send me a generous sample, and I've been on the fence ever since. Well, now it's time to act.

Island estate is great stuff - the aftershave too.  FWIW, I seem to recall getting enabled in this thread, by ExtraProtein IIRC.

Posting Freak
Dan Law is responsible for my somewhat expensive addiction to ABC. Their pre-shave is also outstanding. Nice fleeting light amaretto scent, juicy low profile lather. Very easy to whip up, and does not interfere with post shave fragrance choices [Federic Malle Carnal Flower]

HighSpeed, I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. My lathers don't always have the deepest cushion, but they're awfully slick, and the scent is one of my favorite.

GFT Cream v. (Geo. F. Trumper) citrus cologne
Shave 1 ・ 97% left

The most surprising part of this shave was the musk. Open the tub and all you really smell is citrus: lemon, grapefruit, neroli. At first you may think GFT is going to be a linear, rather dull take on furniture polish. But dip a brush into it and you’ll dredge up all sorts of mossy and musky base notes that give this scent some legs to stand on. In between you’ll find some herby bits. I thought I was smelling basil, but a little research tells me I was really smelling tarragon and lavender. (Looks like it's time for me to get back into the kitchen.) So all in all, what have we got? A classic cologne that’s bright but not fleeting thanks to the wood and musk in the basement. Nice stuff for a summer shave.
