Nero funny you posted again using St. Martin's Land again. When I ordered Copalli, I was considering as a second option getting the St. Martin's Land ck6. The scent of it isn't exactly what I was hoping after reading the scent notes and trying a good handful of the aftershave splash samples. I still really like the scent but for me I was hoping to get more of the Blue Moroccan Chamomile which is very very sweet and tea like or sometimes apple like. That is why I wanted to try it in the first place. Chances are later in summer I will give it a go and buy the soap and aftershave. I do get what you say about the ginger (ale) but I think what I enjoy about it is the other citrus notes like the lime peel, blood orange and neroli.

In the very early morning of Flag Day for my birthday shave I decided to do my own PAA mashup shave soap. Have you guys seen these secret soaps that PAA does where they mash two different scents and do a release of them? So I took my Copalli soap which I have been using since last week and added some of the scuttle sample which is called Planet Phoenix. Planet Phoenix doesn't have a scent description as far as I know but you can look at Planet Red scent profile for what I find a bit fitting. I am waiting patiently for them to do a full on release of this scent which to my nose is creamy, woody, musky, almost takes you where you smell some great deep incense. I think the mix of the two scents is worth trying again. CK6 is a treat to use on my face for daily shaving. No complaints other than it isn't a milled hard soap.

Happy shaving my friends

As a dedicated servant, I used this again to see if I could figure out what happened with the scent after lathering... but it seems my nose was just broken yesterday (I had my suspicions, though I can't explain).

The scent remains a beautiful ginger ale (to give you a sense, not exactly), and I get some salt water.

A sparkling, spritzy delight. Now I want some spiced rum.

EDIT:

Re: my sense of smell
The cottonwood trees (amongst many others) are going crazy, and it's bugging my eyes and sinuses...

Oh, give me land, lots of land under starry skies above,
Don’t fence me in.
Let me ride through the wide open country that I love,
Don’t fence me in.
Let me be by myself in the evenin’ breeze,
And listen to the murmur of the cottonwood trees,
Send me off forever but I ask you please,
Don’t fence me in.

Just turn me loose,
let me straddle my old saddle
Underneath the western skies.
On my Cayuse, let me wander over yonder
Till I see the mountains rise.
I want to ride to the ridge where the west commences
And gaze at the moon till I lose my senses
And I can’t look at hovels and I can’t stand fences
Don’t fence me in.

Yesterday I received an order from Sir Henry's. Last night I had my first shave with Sir Henry's soap. I chose to try Black & Tan for my first run.

At first, I didn't hydrate it well and the first pass was only 'good'. But I fixed that for pass 2, 3, and the cleanup. I have to say, I am impressed. With an adequate amount of water, it was then plenty slick and worked quite well. The scent during the shave was maybe a 5/10? Good and present, but nowhere near strong.

The scent is hard to describe, as I couldn't tell you what a tonka bean smells or looks like. There's definitely an old fashioned cologne vibe. But it's tame, and definitely enhanced by a fair amount of sweetness and a heaping helpings of creaminess.

Post shave, it's about a 2.5/10, which is awesome for me with something in this scent category. I could absolutely see myself enjoying this in the fall / winter.

Thanks Dominick! Definitely a good first impression. Thursday, I'm trying BTA.

I may be a lonely man but Creed Aventus just doesn’t get things cranking for me.  It’s sure enough a pleasant scent and I can see why it has mass appeal, but it’s almost like Debbie Boones song You Light Up My Life.  Hear it once and you think it’s pretty nice but after the radio plays it for the 1483rd time….and it’s only Wednesday, a soul grows weary.  I felt guilty but boy that song rankled before DJs quit spinning it.  Aventus isn’t grating but I tend to scents a bit more esoteric like the animalic notes of vintage Aramis (yep, I got two bottles).  So the shave today was awesome not because of the scent but the performance was killer, the razor had a fresh feather, and that piggy brush was ready to rock!  You light up my life?  Naw, Claptons Cross Roads this morning.  Oh, and the Ethos Healing Serum is very nice.

It’s great to see a bunch of you fellas enjoying what I discovered clear back when all Dom offered was #13.  This soap is the real deal. Glad you like it too.

Well, you and I had discussions about this soap, so you know... I may be (I can't decide) the king of indecision. Lol. That was what, almoat a year ago... And it took this long to finally make a decision and order.

I'm glad I did, for sure.
