(Wholly Kaw) rose chypreUhhhh, I was anxious and nervous reading your post as fast as I could and re-reading it slower like a normal person. I’m SO relieved you like this one. Rose is NOT a scent for me, yet this is in my top 10 of all time.......for every reason you stated.
I shouldn’t smell pucks. They’re never a good indication of what’s to come. The best way to get an inkling for what the lather will smell like is to leave the soap uncovered in a small room. Then walk away for a few hours. The next time you come into the room, take a deep breath of that perfumed air. You’ll know right away if that scent's going to work for you. So how does Chypre Rose Concerto smell? Fantastic. This soap’s fragrance is every bit as rich as the legendary lather it makes. It’s loaded with centifolia rose and resins and herbs and who knows what else. And there’s a bitter, mossy edge to it that I really like. If you’re looking for a masculine rose, you may have found it.

What Voodoo Black Magic is he (Sri) doing over there at WK? The bittery dried dead rose herbal scent of this one with its “legendary lather” is a masterpiece. It comes up for me this Sunday!
This exact scent was the one that got me to “turn the corner” with florals in general - particularly with rose. I always hated that smell. Sri is a genius. Like you, it’s one of my favorites.
CRSW Oliva Siberian Fir
I really do like this scent, but we really do need someone to just do a pure fir scent and leave it alone (this one adds juniper, so it is still nice, but I just like the bright happiness of straight fir, especially if someone could capture the scent of freshly broken needles straight off the tree... smells a lot like a spritz of orange peel actually.)
Something about Oliva and my skin just get it on, especially post shave... So calm it seriously doesn't have the feeling like I even shaved.
I'm barely moving the beer can and he's following every little move.

Why Orange Chill? First off, I like menthol but Stirling Glacials, although fun sometimes, are cold enough to be distracting and so I no longer have any. If I wish to kick any soap into the “glacial” category I can add menthol crystals. However, Stirling’s “chill” soaps have enough menthol to get my attention without blurred vision. The scent on this one is a complex......orange. Ok, so it’s not complex. Top note is orange followed by a heart note of orange....well, you get the picture. Gladly though, it’s a very pleasant orange and I liked the last puck of it so here is its replacement.
Wholly Kaw Fern Concerto. Pleasant enough scent. I won't say this one has me running to place an online order, but yeah...nice enough. The scent is middle-ground, meaning it's not overly strong, and not at all an edgy one. Fresh and bright and ideal for spring and summer. I'm not certain if this one has the synthetic menthol or not. I didn't notice any cooling effect. There's a good possibility I overlooked it since I was concentrating on the shave itself. Lather-wise, it's Wholly Kaw and all the goodness you'd expect.
