What soap/cream did you use today?

Creamy and decadent - paired with LeLabo Ylang 49.

Eufros scents are ok for me - certainly not as compelling as some of my favorite makers [WK, SH, GD] but really a stellar lather!

Yes, good. Great actually. They know how to cook a base as well as anyone today. Highly impressed.

Officina Artigiana Milano (original scent)

First use with this one.

Not really my favorite scent, as I'm not an oud fan (or is that the guaiac wood? I'm not sure what smells like). To my nose, this is an ambery oud. Just not what I'm looking for, but oh well.

But the in-shave performance is flawless. I've had the pleasure of using a lot of great stuff, especially recently... the shave procured with this was as good and carefree as anything.

Post-shave, I cant really comment on bc I made the mistake of using a splash that kinda has a lasting burn (I need to just get rid of it)... Then to go the other way, I used another splash twenty minutes later that is overloaded with menthol, so I can't feel anything at all, haha.

There are some scents that really hit the spot for me but are a huge miss for the Mrs.  Fine Green Vetiver is that on steroids!  This morning she asked me if I was casting resin (resin is sort of stinky).  Well, gratefully I can and do still wear it when she goes to her office and I go to mine.  Weekends will be for less esoteric scents.  Green Vetiver is a Guerlaine Vetiver dupe and a very good one indeed.  Mr. Fine talks of a citrus top that melds into a vetiver base with a kiss of tobacco.  WHAT?  His nose is broken!  For those of you who like Guerlaine Vetiver, tell me if I’m wrong, but there is a lot more than that going on here.  I get the citrus for sure but there is an herbaceous quality here to like maybe rosemary? A good dose of wordiness.  Certainly Vetiver is the star and nobody cleans it too far.  But the trill of tobacco?  Heck nah man.  Tobacco is right up front like Malcolm playing rhythm guitar to Angus’ lead.  And it’s good leaf tobacco.  In fact I really feel it’s the tobacco that sets this scent apart from other vetivers.

Was thinking you had the new base, about which I haven't seen any reviews on the forums yet.
(For those wondering, the giveaway that it is the old base is that it says "Classic" shave soap, not "21st Century")

Haha.  Correct.  This is the old puck, repurposed tub, cardboard box label stuck to the top.  I too am curious about the new iteration but I do enjoy the old.

Yesterday's shave - I have had a sample of Petrichor for a couple years now and have always enjoyed the scent.  I've noticed many occasions on a cool/damp spring or fall walk that really highlighted what Will sought out to do with this scent.  

I finally decided to purchase a tub after seeing it in the soft-heart base.  I had not yet tried the soft-heart and thought it was a good time do so.  Honestly, this one may hit the BST.  The scent off the puck is as good, if not better, than my sample.  But once lathered, uggghhhh.  It was more like mud.  I'll give it another go before making a decision (a fantastic lesson preached by CL) but am definitely leaning towards letting it go.  As for base...if you like a good thick yogurty-like lather, you'll enjoy the soft-heart base.  It does require more water and some patience, but it does turn out nicely

It surprises me that you don't like the Soft Heart base as much. From what I gather, more folks (including myself) prefer it to the Excelsior base. I remember reading that both bases are the exact same ingredients, in different ratios. As you've probably gathered, it loads easier and quicker than other bases. My heavens, can it ever take some water - particularly if you load heavy. BTW, that's some seriously delicious looking lather in your photo!
