There are some scents that really hit the spot for me but are a huge miss for the Mrs.  Fine Green Vetiver is that on steroids!  This morning she asked me if I was casting resin (resin is sort of stinky).  Well, gratefully I can and do still wear it when she goes to her office and I go to mine.  Weekends will be for less esoteric scents.  Green Vetiver is a Guerlaine Vetiver dupe and a very good one indeed.  Mr. Fine talks of a citrus top that melds into a vetiver base with a kiss of tobacco.  WHAT?  His nose is broken!  For those of you who like Guerlaine Vetiver, tell me if I’m wrong, but there is a lot more than that going on here.  I get the citrus for sure but there is an herbaceous quality here to like maybe rosemary? A good dose of wordiness.  Certainly Vetiver is the star and nobody cleans it too far.  But the trill of tobacco?  Heck nah man.  Tobacco is right up front like Malcolm playing rhythm guitar to Angus’ lead.  And it’s good leaf tobacco.  In fact I really feel it’s the tobacco that sets this scent apart from other vetivers.

Also curious! I’ve really enjoyed the Lemon Spice in their V3 base.

Atomic Age Bay Rum v. (Phoenix Shaving) spiced cola

The folks at Phoenix Shaving certainly seem to have more fun making soaps than all the other artisans in the business. Their labels make me laugh, while the soap inside makes me oooh and aww. But I wonder where Doug Smythe really got his inspiration for this scent? I'm thinking poolside with a rum and Coke. Atomic Age Bay Rum sports a bold lemony top followed by all the fixings for a classic cola. Smell good? Yes, I could happily uncork this every morning for weeks on end. It’s bright and spicy and a good tonic for the rest of the day. Is it a bay rum? With a little work, I could slip it into that category. But mostly it reminds me of sipping a Pepsi while chewing cinnamon gum. Oh, and the shave? Just remarkable. The CK-6 base is as thick and slick and glossy as anything I’ve ever dipped a brush into.

When I smell Guerlain's Vetiver, I get a big whiff of carrot seed. Maybe that the herby bit your smelling? I didn't pick that up in Fine's Green Vetiver, though. In fact, my puck was so mildly scented, I finally pitched it. It made a good lather, but it hardly smelled like anything. I was spritzing the puck with Guerlain Vetiver just to give my shave a fragrance. I finally decided to save the perfume for spritzing on myself. (I just watched a video of Bon Scott singing "Build Me Up Buttercup" with the Valentines. It was disturbing.)

Carrot seed!  That’s it! And mine is powerfully scented as is the aftershave splash.  Bon Scott singing Build Me Up Buttercup?  Wow!  That’s weird. Wait a tick! Bon Scott was a member of the Valentine’s? I had no idea. Well, who would have thought Bouki might teach someone something today?

You tricked us with that jar...
Was thinking you had the new base, about which I haven't seen any reviews on the forums yet.
(For those wondering, the giveaway that it is the old base is that it says "Classic" shave soap, not "21st Century")
