It's easy to over water them at first, and that results in light, fluffy lather. So my mantra is 'load heavy, load dry.' Then when all is good and pasty, I start adding water slowly. I usually end up with a thick & slick lather. But that's not the best part. I really like their finish. They contain talc, and that agrees well with my skin. It doesn't kick in for a few hours, but by late afternoon when some soaps leave me feeling prickly, Meißner Tremonia soaps keep me feeling dry and smooth.(04-08-2021, 04:46 AM)Bouki Wrote: Moroccan Rhassoul v. Black Beer No 1 is en route to the den and your posts have created more anticipation for its arrival!
Here’s another soap that marches in my “bay rum and bay rum allies” cohort. There’s actually no bay in this fragrance, but there’s plenty of eugenol, that chemical compound found in cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon, and West Indies bay that makes things smell like a dentist's office. Copaiba oil adds to Moroccan Rhassoul's spiciness, and there's a petal or two from some fragrant flower and a tablespoon of brown sugar thrown in. I slap on some bay rum aftershave and everything just settles in nice together.

Black Beer 1 is one of the few Meißner Tremonia soaps I've never tried. I can't wait to hear what you'll say about it.

Black Beer No 1 arrived this afternoon. My 1st impression sniff...this thing makes Strong 'n Scottish smell like roses It is BOLD and, oh boy, do I love it!
I'm picking up a strong citrus-vibe but it's a very "dark" citrus. I'm not sure what it is but it doesn't seem to be a smoke or patchouli-esque scent turning it dark. Perhaps it's the German Schwarzbier added to the base. Looking forward to lathering this one up and seeing how the scent evolves. And thank you Bouki for the loading/lathering advice. The light/fluffy lather has appeared with my MT pastes in the past so I will use your method when I use BBN1. BTW, did you grate the soap into the container or do you typically hold the soap while loading?
I Colonai Mango
Certainly not a low profile creamy lather. Residual slickness not like tallow, but I sure do love the scent - and I get a really close shave every time. Hmmm. Oh well - easy to gather and love the terra cotta container. Nice size and fits very securely in the palm of my hand.
Conventional wisdom is Innsbruck Cologne is the perfect pairing - to me the Innsbruck [tobacco flower] is way more floral dominant than the soap. Moreover, the Cologne has an interesting 'note' to my olfactory radar: topps bubble gum. Oh my that dry sweet powdery goodness. Takes me back to jamming gum in my mouth and ripping through a dozen baseball card packs on Saturday morning after a 2 hour cartoon session!
C U all tomorrow
