I like B&M Glissant base better than Excelsior or Soft Heart (and perhaps there are some other bases in there too). Why in the world does a soaker have to keep changing formulae except to keep the hype going? At any rate, I pick up tubs from bought-too-many sales when Gents decide to clear their dens out and this is where this puck of Jacinthe came from. She was dried and pulled away from the tub wall but a bit of distilled water and some time with the cap on and it’s swollen back to size AND the scent is awake and alive! Great scent on this one but not what I was expecting. Lemon, Pear, Hyacinth, Tomato Leaf are the main notes labeled by Will but I don’t know what Hyacinth smells like so..... It is bright and lively and reminds me of summer. I was hoping for the scent of tomato leaves like one Mickey Lee made awhile back but I should have known Mr. Carius wouldn’t let things be that easy. He was careful not to let the tomato leaf rule the accord and did a marvelous job. Nice soap and Glissant is so good.
Felt like a bit of summer on this windy winter February day.

Agrumes v. (Martin de Candre) citruses
Apart from Fougère and Original, these Martin de Candre soaps loose their scent when I leave the lid off for more than a couple days. A little boost does them good. I find that Habit Rouge perks up Rose, Grey Vetiver brings out the best in Vétyver, and two spritzes of Eau de Guerlain transform this dull melange of citrus to a bright, lemony delight. Next time I’ll try 4711 to see what it can do for the neroli.
