Felce Aromatica v. (Saponificio Varesino) easy green
The lawn’s still green and I’m still cutting it once a week. We always have the windows open, so as I mow, the house fills with a deep green grassy aroma, and when the work is all over, that smell coaxes me to reach for my favorite fougères. Today I grabbed Felce Aromatica, a soap whose name is Italian for aromatic fougère. It’s a delight to lather up, but like so many other modern fougères, it’s all sparkle and no boom. I get some nice bergamot, a dab of sage, white fir, and ginger. What’s missing? The lavender and oak moss. In other words the very heart and soul of the classic fougère accord. Now, don’t get me wrong, Felce Aromatica smells very nice, and it reminds me of spending an afternoon next to a high alpine stream. But I wish Saponificio Varesino had got a little more oomph into it.

New soap today. I like Wholly Kaw and consider it a top shelf product, In fact my wife really likes Lait Ecreme for her eyes, but it is not my favorite. Although performance is great, I mostly don’t get on with their scents. This one may be one that grows on me. It’s certainly a summer soap focused scent as the minty menthol note would provide that vibe. I don’t get the black tea note but that would be subtle anyway. What I do get is an apple/pear scent that although not compelling, it still beckons. I suppose time will provide the answer of if it makes the final cut.
