Mikes is still a bit spotty. And yes I do like the Rocca razor but find I like it most with the sharpest blades.  Gillette Green just isn’t quite there.

Lip. I have been trying to catch Mike for a puck of his bbshop-but you are right :product can be elusive. What is his bbshop akin too? Can't be as mind blowing as SH Quartet, but feed me an analogy. Thx in advance.

They are actually both really good examples of the Barber Shop genre and would be my 2 top choices.  Quartet opens with the astringent herbal note from rosemary which has the corners sanded down a bit by lavender.  I know there is citrus in there but my nose doesn’t pick it up as an individual note.  I do get musk and his signature, and proper, use of vanilla to sweeten things up just a tad.  So awesome, but you know that.  Mikes is much more of a muted scent.  Not weak scent but not so bold asQuartet.  It opens with a dance of bitter citrus and basil who are the main performers but strongly backed up with the depth of moss and patchouli, both of which can get really funky if care is not taken.  Mike kept them both as support to the dancers and it’s wonderful.  This one is barbershop meets traditional fougere and is elegant.
I gotta git me some. Thanks Lip.

Just ordered it - he finally had some available!

I've used the SV numerous times the past couple of months. For me, it's just not on the same tier as the elite Ethos or excellent MdC.

Today was shave 3 with Desert Vetiver from SV

Lathered up easy, maybe not the thickest but nice texture, shaves nice and again the skin felt good with aftershave

No complaints on face feel but still trying to figure out the scent. I will include so you can see what my nose is trying to comprehend

Top-Elemi, Pine Tree, Incense, Orange, Artemisia, Grapefruit, Bergamot
Body-Black Pepper, Marjoram, Juniper Berries, Origan, Geranium, Rose, Lavandin
Base-Clove, Patchoulli, Vetiver, Amber, Precious Woods, Plant Moss

If anyone is familiar with the SV releases and the scents of Cosmo or Flying Mango. I was a little apprehensive of those fragrances at first but I also found them more approachable. Desert Vetiver leaves me a bit lost at first but hopefully more thoughts on the performance soon. I will shave with it again in the next couple days.

Happy shaving everyone

Wholly Kaw Nightcap

Definitely a fun fragrance: not for the office but for stepping out or date night. Warm, oriental - almost a gourmand. Would work best with Guerlain Vanille Spirituese. I ran a bottle of that dry 6 months ago but can't get the financial fortitude to go in again.

Tallow season in full force!
