Mikes is still a bit spotty. And yes I do like the Rocca razor but find I like it most with the sharpest blades.  Gillette Green just isn’t quite there.

Lip. I have been trying to catch Mike for a puck of his bbshop-but you are right :product can be elusive. What is his bbshop akin too? Can't be as mind blowing as SH Quartet, but feed me an analogy. Thx in advance.

Floris Verbena shaving soap (tallow) + Bulgarian Rose Absolute/Hydrosol. The soap is old and has lost much of its scent over the years, and the rose absolute solution sweetens and livens it up. The Bulgarian rose is deeper and darker than the Moroccan one or the rose trilogy that I sometimes use.

They are actually both really good examples of the Barber Shop genre and would be my 2 top choices.  Quartet opens with the astringent herbal note from rosemary which has the corners sanded down a bit by lavender.  I know there is citrus in there but my nose doesn’t pick it up as an individual note.  I do get musk and his signature, and proper, use of vanilla to sweeten things up just a tad.  So awesome, but you know that.  Mikes is much more of a muted scent.  Not weak scent but not so bold asQuartet.  It opens with a dance of bitter citrus and basil who are the main performers but strongly backed up with the depth of moss and patchouli, both of which can get really funky if care is not taken.  Mike kept them both as support to the dancers and it’s wonderful.  This one is barbershop meets traditional fougere and is elegant.

Wish it still came in the metal tin. So classic with that label.

Agreed!  The label as you know is not waterproof so I am careful to get it out of the splash zone before lathering.  Interestingly, the bottom label is waterproof so I can rinse a soap without the label falling apart.  I’ll keep them as pristine as I can and stuff a new puck in them As needed.
