What soap/cream did you use today?

I don't get around to using this one very much mainly because I loathe the container it's in. It has really good performance considering it has so few ingredients. The scent which was light to begin with, does appear to have vanished though.

Yeah. The container it comes in is impossible. I smashed mine into a regular six-ounce Colt-Ainer jar.

I really need to do the same

Taking Bouki's advice, i started weighing the soaps I'm trying to finish.  I weigh before blooming/lathering and then again the next day (I'm letting them dry out so I can get more accurate measurements).  The last time I used Windjammer, I ended up lathering with a 30mm Tuxedo and I loaded for a good 60 seconds...used 4 grams for that lather!  I used another 30mm knot today but only loaded for about 20 seconds.  This puck shouldn't last much longer if I keep attacking it like this

How good is this as a clone? Or, how do you like it/describe it?

I have an old bottle (mid-1980's) of Old Spice and the scents are similar.  They're not the same scent as Windjammer, at least to me, seems sweeter as compared to Old Spice.  I do enjoy the scent but it's not one that goes on my "must re-order" list.

Agreed. Reminiscent but not close to the spice. A lot more citrus and cleaner than the classic. Nice but a poor standin.

In Idaho we had a fella, Richard Zimmerman aka the Salmon River Cave Man.  He lived alone along the Salmon River between Challis and the town of Salmon.  He had a small orchard, a goat or two, and made his living renting rooms that he had dug out of the hillside.  He passed a few years back but when he was alive I’d stop in and visit when I was in the area.  Dick lived away from society because he chose to, not because he disliked people.  I thought of the Caveman This morning while using Mikes Orange, Cedar, and Black Pepper.  Here is a soaper that doesn’t appear to see much value in advertising or social media yet his soaps enjoy almost a cult following because they work!  I sure like them.  I wonder if he makes them in a cave.

Used to see this soap regularly.  Not so much anymore but it’s a great one.

But Idaho weirdo or not, this was a highlight on my drive from Utah through Idaho, Wyoming, Montana (including Yellowstone, Jackson, Big Sky, Glacier, Bighorns) and then all the way to NY.

This puck of Windsor has been sitting on the shelf for almost five years now, a true pity because it is just about my favorite smelling soap. Though the scent is still good, the soap itself has grown hard as a rock. Loading from it has been a chore. To soften it, I decided to grate it and re-pack it in the bowl. Worked wonders. I got a good brushful of soap with only 125 swirls. Although the lather wasn’t splendidly glossy, it still gave me a marvelous shave, just as close and comfortable as the lather made from any superfatted soap. In fact, Windsor may have been even better.
