With all the newest, and notably great soap bases, I’ll be hanged if I don’t still enjoy the great performance I get from DR Harris.  This morning I was reminded that a hard puck needs more loading time than a soft soap and had to go back and load up.  Ahhh.  There was the slickness.  And that Marlborough scent is divine.

French Vetiver v. (Cyril Salter) raw vetiver

A few days ago churchilllafemme noted that his tub of Cyril Salter Sandalwood was more of a croap than a cream and wondered if it was made that way or if it had just dried some. I noticed the same thing with my latest tub of Salter’s French Vetiver. It’s certainly does not have the same smooth and easy texture as my first tub of this soap. In fact, my current jug of French Vetiver is quite thick and pasty, sort of like peanut butter. What to do? This morning I scooped it all out onto a marble counter, sprinkled it with a few drops of water, and then worked it with a silicone spatula. It took almost half a tablespoon of water, but eventually the soap took on its old creamy texture. Was it worth the effort? Hmmm. It was a messy business, and it didn’t improve the already excellent performance; but it did my heart good to have the soap looking like its old self, and if anything, the added water helped bring out that reeking, lovely fragrance.

Saponificio Varesino Colonia

Italian herbal citrus very close to Aqua di Parma [Cary Grant's signature scent]. Top tier vegan soap - refreshing den filling scent strength: pretty thirsty stuff. I had a 2 pass BBS which has never happened before, as it usually takes 3+

Fine, Caties, Razo Rock, T&S, Stirling, + more all do this flavor. Stirling is my favorite though [Piacenza].

C U all tomorrow
