88 Chestnut St t. (Declaration Grooming/Chatillon Lux) citrus

This version of 88 Chestnut St features the ‘new, more prominent neroli EO'. You like a sweet, floral citrus, it’s hard to beat this soap. The fragrance is based on Farina’s original eau de Cologne (1709). Expect lots and lots of citrus couched on a dab of lavender. The neroli really is the show stopper. It’s rich and bright at the same time. What’s missing is Farina's herby bits. I get the green of fresh orange leaf, but not much rosemary, thyme, or oregano.

Bouki You make me want to try the scent based on your review. Nicely written and always enjoyed. Your write-ups are appreciated so cheers to more of them.

Art of Shaving really builds quality shaving soaps and creams and has been a part of my routine for years.  Expensive? Yep, if you don’t wait for sales.  AI chose Peppermint cream this morning.  The cream, when new is way too easy to overload and just a dip if the tips in the tub gives plenty of lather.  As they age, they become more Croap-like and loading becomes a swirl with a damp brush affair which I actually like better.  At any rate, fresh or aged, performance is 10 kinds of amazing.  The peppermint scent is more than just mint but I sure couldn’t tell you what.  Deeper and richer than plain mint would be.  Scent strength is very prominent and there is enough mint there To give  a touch of that menthol cooling.  Very nice product. Excellent scent and performance.

Soap Commander's scents and performance easily equal or exceed any other soap I've used, including tallow-based soaps. The owners are great people, and you get a handwritten thank you from Carrie with every purchase. And this scent is great.

Penhaligon's English Fern shaving soap (tallow). For me nothing makes better lather.
