Morning, HoosierShave! Thanks for posting your shot of Castle Forbes cream. I'd like to try one of their creams some time. Can you tell us about the scent of this Lavender? Good and rich?

Former loyal CF user. With experience, it adequate but uninspired shave properties. The synthetic quality of the scent is more than compensated by its overbearing projection.

Thanks, Dan! Looks like I might put this brand on a back burner.

Kaloderma Shaving Cream "Mild"
with Chamomile (flower extract) and Vitamin Complex (E and B3)

I had never seen nor heard of it before, until I happened to be in a drug store in the small town of Parrsboro, Nova Scotia. I have this notion that there is probably one long-time customer who insists that they stock it. I don't recall the price, but it was very reasonable.
Made in Germany, imported by some company in Mississauga, Ontario.

The scent is pleasant but, sadly, I could not detect much "chamomile", one of my favourite scents.
Nice lather too.

I wonder — if this is "Mild", is there a "Spicy Hot" version?  Wink

I haven't shaved with Castle Forbes but smelled plenty of them over the years and I would say Dan is pretty spot on in regards to the scent. I do like the smell of the lavender in it but it is quite a bit present or as he says, it projects a lot out of the tub. Sometime people say it is too fragrant. Bouki Have you tried the Ethos shave soaps? If not, consider Frank's Lavender Supreme, a very nice lavender scent when lathered (I didn't love it out of the tub) and the performance should treat your shave right.

zaclikestoshave: thanks for your reply, and thanks for mentioning Ethos. I haven't tried it yet. I haven't figured out how to order even. But I've heard good things. My soap budget for 2020 is just about shot, so it may have to wait for next year. In the meantime, though, I'll enjoy your reviews.

Good morning to you sir!  I find the CF Lavender scent to be very pleasant and the scent is the main reason the tub is still in the den.  Like DanLaw mentioned, the shave properties are not the best but I do like the slickness.  As compared to Mike's Hungarian Lavender, the CF scent is stronger off the tub by a notch or two.  Whereas Mike's has a bit of an "earthy" tone to the scent, CF tends to be more floral.  If you'd like to try a sample, PM me and I'll gladly send you some.  The tub notes it is 6.8 oz and I know I'll never get through that much, especially if I'm only using it twice a year Smile
