I just might be able to re-approach Martin de Candre now that I see it in a new olfactory light. (I was a Stingray rider.)
My bloviating is going to show my age, but I had a Sleepy Joe revelation. This puck is nostalgic for me I wasn't sure why. There is a floral heart note in this, but it is the top note which was doing it. That rubber profile reminds me of my youth - my first bicycle: a yellow Schwin lemon peeler with the big fat rear racing slick tire. The old bike shop and Schwin crates and peelers smell like MdC. It makes me smile every time I lather.
Exotic Elemi v. (Meißner Tremonia) elemi, ylang ylang
Friday usually calls for a fougère. It’s nice to end the work week with something that smells alive and uplifting. Exotic Elemi may be the closest thing Meißner Tremonia offers in that department. Elemi smells green in a sappy sort of way, like the scent of young bark just stripped off a tree. It’s a little peppery and tart. The label says there’s some ylang ylang in the fragrance, too. That’s a sweet floral aroma that sometimes smells of overripe bananas. Luckily, I don’t pick it up at all. French green clay gives the soap a verdant hue and decent slip.

Finally couldn’t wait any longer and pulled the trigger on a new tub of Cyril Salter French Vetiver. I've been hoping that they would release the scent in the triple milled puck they produced That’s getting good reviews but alas, only in lavender. The tub arrived and although a little disappointed that the scent strength is softer than the last pot, it is still Vetiver unadorned or adulterated. To my nose this is the best Vetiver on the planet. Top notes of Vetiver followed by mid notes of Vetiver all sitting on a base of Vetiver you think you like your Vetiver dirty, roots, and Smokey? Put on your big boy pants and chinch that belt up tight cowboy because this horse can buck! Awesome!

Bloviate is unfortunately a word I had to learn long ago........darn it. And I too was a Schwinn man.

Tonight was my second try at a Godrej Shaving Round.
The first time I used an Omega 10086 Travel Boar. I figured "small puck, small brush".
This time I used a 24 mm badger and got much more lather. I just kept adding water to the puck in my lather bowl and working it up.
Sorry, no lather pr0n photos. Gotta keep this safe for work.
Great results.
It struck me that it would be a good soap to use in a vintage-type scuttle, where you pour boiling water over the puck and the excess water drains through to the bottom chamber. The raised rim helps to bloom it, the same as with Williams Mug which has a similar size and shape.
It wasn't until immediately before starting this post that I finally remembered what other product it smells like.
I had been thinking maybe anise, but then I thought of "Snap", a pasty sort of hand cleaner with pumice in it. It's been at least 40-50 years since I've smelled that, but my memory of it is still strong.
I still have not figured out how to pronounce it. "GOD-redge"? "go-DREJH"? "God-ray"? "Joe-dredge"?

We could be Heroes, just for one day.
