You all know my affinity for Phoenix and Beau’s Spitfire thus I picked up a couple other P&B scents.  Today is Oberon, king of the Fairies.  P&B calls this  floriental and I get that but I’d place it more in the fougere category.  Lavender and Violet up top with Cedar and Oakmoss playing base and some thyme filling in for coumarin.  I picture a mossy, loamy floor under dark cedars with a bit of floral drifting in On a breeze from the meadow.  Fitting for a soap named after the King of the Fairies.

Sniff this puck and you'd have every right to think this fragrance is never going to work. The black pepper is too strong, the neroli too sweet. But whip up a lather and mash it around your face for a while, and something remarkable happens. As the pepper fades and the neroli mellows, a soft, sweet, rich note of honey wells up filling the gap between flower and the spice. The three scents take turns coming to the front and then gracefully stepping back. It's like an olfactory minuet for three. Very cool.

Not often one has the opportunity to employ “pas de trois” outside ballet; your post evoked memories of a lady friend, formerly a ballerina....
Crap - going to the dictionary. You guys must have scored high on your SAT tests.

Yes. Raised on working cattle ranch. Parents dead set against education. Really had no books nor reading materials in house other than Bible and local paper. Parents thought schooling a waste of time
