Bouki’s post about his menthol grinder reminded me that I have not had a menthol infused shave in a coons age. I changed that today. Enter Stirling’s Lemon Chill, one in the glacial line, this soap is cold! Menthol, as you know, is a derivative of mint and as such carries a mint scent with it. Thus Lemon Chill is in fact Lemon-Mint chill with heavy emphasis on mint. Menthol is used in all sorts of things. It's the “freshness” in mint chewing gum. It's the analgesic in Tiger Balm and Icy Hot. It's used in cough drops and throat sprays for temporary relief of pain. And it's appearance in perfumery can actually enhance the scent of other notes, primarily floral. But when Stirling makes a glacial soap, you are going to smell mint. I never considered it before but discovered some have sensitivities to menthol. I have a son who would love to try some of my menthol offerings but cannot because of skin reactions. It lights him up like cinnamon does me. But it's been warm in Idaho. Clear up to 64 yesterday! That, and Bouki’s prodding produced a wonderful and chilly shave this morning.
